the ram

Ancient Greek inspired silver woven ram bracelet and jewellery with a bronze pointed amphora

In ancient Greek mythology, the ram was symbol of energy, power, strong will and virility. It was a sacred creature in many ancient civilisations, from Mesopotamia to the Etruscans, Egyptians, Minoans, Greeks and Romans.

When Alexander the Great conquered Egypt, he visited the shrine of the sun god Amun-Ra, who was depicted with a ram's head. Thereafter, the horns of the ram were shown much like a crown in Alexander's portraiture and in depictions of him on coinage.
