From an original silver tetradrachm minted in Rhodes ca 230BC. Radiate Helios is shown on the one side, with the Rodion, or rosebud of Rhodes, on the other. These cufflinks show the Helios side of the coin.
This type of coinage, depicting Helios, was minted in the period during the 3rd and 2nd centuries BC, when Rhodes was enjoying great prosperity.
