The papyrus motif is a frequent one in Minoan art, appearing on pottery and on frescoes. Given the proximity of Crete to Egypt, it is not surprising. From Thera/Santorini, the original of this vessel dates to 1500 BC.

The vases themselves are manufactured in Greece, the images are then applied by transfer, before being painted by hand.
