It's All Greek on Easter Walkabout

One of our most popular bronze miniatures.

The Greek key motif is also known as the 'meander' or 'meandros' and appears throughout ancient Greek art, from the geometric period onwards. It is a symbol of infinity and unity, also thought to represent the labyrinth or maze, and the eternal quest for truth.

The prototype for our helmets is the plain, uncrested Corinthian style of the 6th century BC. Originals of these can be seen in museums across the world, but the model used by our bronze supplier in Greece is in the Goulandris Collection in the Museum of Cycladic Art, in Athens.

material Bronze. Cast using the lost wax method of antiquity. It is cast in two parts, then the crest inserted. You can still see the wax marks on the inside. As they are not mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique. Mounted on a marble base.
