Poseidon was the elemental god of the sea, flowing water and earthquakes. Brother of Zeus and Hades, he was married to the sea-nymph Amphitrite, but had no children with her. He had numerous affairs, all fruitful, but the offspring were rather 'unusual'; for example, Polyphemos the one-eyed Cyclops and Pegasus the winged horse. With his trident he would strike the ocean floor to cause violent tempests and earthquakes. A strike of his trident would also cause storms and earthquakes to abate.

He has been cast for us, in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method. As nothing is mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique.
