Beautiful and youthful Apollo is represented here wearing his signature laurel wreath, symbol of artistic achievement. Apollo was one of the most versatile of the ancient Greek gods. His spheres of influence included the the sun and light, culture and civilisation, disease and healing, prophecy and oracles, music and poetry.
His most common attributes are the lyre and the laurel wreath (as here), reminding us of his pursuit of the nymph Daphne and her subsequent metamorphosis into a laurel tree.
This bronze bust has been cast for us, in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method.
|dimensions||Height including his marble base: 32cm As nothing is mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique. Also, please allow for variations of a millimetre or two from the specified height. He is mounted on a black marble base, which again might vary slightly in dimensions.|
