Athenian statesman, orator and general during the second half of the 5th century BC, the 'Golden Age of Athens', Perikles was instrumental in orchestrating the rebuilding of Athens following its devastation by the Persians. The Akropolis Project, including the Parthenon, was his initiative.
Portraits of Perikles, like this one, show him as gentle-faced, bearded, with a hoplite helmet resting on his head.
He is cast for us, in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method. As nothing is mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique. He is mounted on a marble base.
