The original, full-size bronze statue, dating to ca 475-45 BC, is now in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. There has been considerable debate about his identity. If Poseidon, he was hurling his trident; if Zeus, his thunderbolt. He was discovered in the sea, off Cape Artemision, between 1926 ad 1928 and is one of the handful of original, full-size bronze statues to survive from antiquity.
He is cast for us, in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method. As nothing is mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique. He is mounted on a marble base.
