LAST ONE - for the foreseeable future!
This boat is inspired by the penteconter, a forerunner of the Athenian bireme and trireme, an ancient Greek galley used since the archaic period.
The penteconter was a long range ship, used for sea trade, piracy, warfare and exploration, capable of transporting freight or troops.
The evil eye on the side of the hull, a common motif, designed to warn and frighten the enemy!
It has been cast for us, in Greece, using the traditional 'lost wax' method. As they are not mass-produced, there will inevitably be slight variations in patination and colouring. Each piece is, therefore, unique. Also, please allow for variations of a millimetre or two from the specified height.
|dimensions etc||Height including its base: 37cm, Length: 46cm, Width 28cm|
|material||The boat and sail are cast in bronze, using the lost wax casting method of antiquity. The patination and oxidisation is such that there will always be subtle variations in texture and colour. The base is made of marble. The boat, sail, and marble base, will be packed separately. Putting them all together once you have unpacked them is very easy!|
|country of origin||Made in Greece. It's All Greek is proud to have been working with the Semitekolo family foundry since 1999.|
