Influenced by Geometric pottery, which dates roughly between the 8th and 7th centuries BC. This reproduction oinochoe is decorated with circular and angular patterns that were common motifs in this period. The ibex is depicted on the shoulder frieze of the vessel and birds complete the central frieze. The ibex in antiquity symbolized energy, vitality, long life and fertility. The ibex has particular significance within Greek mythology as the ibex Amalthea nurtured Zeus in Crete. Zeus granted the ibex immortality in the form of the constellation Capricorn.
This vase is hand painted for us in Greece.
