The scene on this little oinochoe shows a young boy playing with some vases: a pointed amphora and two oinochoai.
Originals of these miniature vases date to around the late sixth and early fifth centuries BC, and are to be found in grave hoards such as those from the ancient Kerameikos in Athens.
They are thought to have been used as votive offerings and toys for children.
